Working Blue as Best Man Leads Monday Ramblin's...
After working on a best man speech for a couple of hours last night, I think I'm much better at roasts. I had material that would absolutely murder the right room. Unfortunately that room doesn't involve the bride, any of her relatives, any of his co-workers, any of his family and pretty much everyone else there besides 4 degenerates he's known for way to long. But still...That Brad Penny as a Cy Young contender at the All-Star break doesn't seem so crazy now, does it?...
So maybe you're wondering what the hell that funny box is below this post. Well it's this new software I got to run live chats as events unfold live. Since I am A) an incredible dork and B) have no life, I decided to test it out on Friday night on the game versus the Giants. I figured the traffic would be light and any major kinks that happened I could work out with minimal distractions. Well, the software worked awesome and, surprisingly, we had over 40 people in the room at any given time during the game to talk as it happened live. We'll be busting this bad boy out from time to time and we'll be sure to publicize it next time it's up. Oh, and if you want to see what people who are online at midnight on a Friday night chat about, feel free to read the history...
Is it the offense or is it good pitching? The Cardinals were shut the F down this past weekend in SF. Let's not get crazy here, but if the ratio of either K or HR or nothing continues through the Braves series- then this team has some serious problems...
Movie Snot: 500 Days of Summer- How is Joseph Gordon-Levitt not a bigger star? If Zooey Deschanel can make big budget movies with bankable stars like Jim Carrey, then why not JGL? The movie if kind of a love story, but not really. In fact, it's kind of depressing. But unlike most RomComs, this one you could definitely find yourself in. JGL gives a spot on performance of a hopeless romantic that will only feel happy when he finds the one. Of course, the one, doesn't really want to get serious and bad times ensue. The whole thing is out of order and scattered over 500 days, which makes it interesting to watch. I give it B-...
For those of you that like to say things like "pitching and defense win championships", then you should be ecstatic about the Cardinals start. One second thought, this offense must suck if you're only 4 games over .500 with the amount of quality starts this staff is pumping out...
Don't believe Mel or Todd- nobody has the slightest idea if the Rams had a good draft or not. But I will promise you that you'll like watching Mardy Gilyard play football on Sunday's. He doesn't do anything spectacularly well- BUT- he's ALWAYS in the mix, making a play, breaking the other teams back. These are the kind of guys the Rams need to target. Winners...
New Bleacher Report LINK HERE. Kind of expounded on the Freak Factor idea I put up on InsideSTL on Friday. It's all about the NL Central and stuff...

column, because I think it’s pretty OK:
If you haven't been able to tell, a good chunk of my life revolves around baseball. Like a jealous 16 year old, I always hate when baseball gets overshadowed by football - whether it be draft weekend like this, or September/October playoff drama. Even worse is when there's always a couple bullshit useless stories that come out during the start of training camp, ie. Favre, T.O., Pacman Jones, Chris Henry - oops, too soon?, and it clogs up the first three or four stories of Pardon the Interruption for about a week straight.
So sitting on my couch, watching Mel Kiper and eating brats tonight doesn't mean I'm completely neglecting baseball. At least the Cardinals have the day off, so all St. Louis homer focus can be put towards being the first one to hit up NFLshop.com for a Sam Bradford jersey (side note: what number do you think he'll wear? According to the

I like Tony LaRussa. I think overall he does way more good for the STL Cards than he hurts them by micro-managing in spots. However, there is a faction of fans that do believe he’s too tinker prone. Those people might enjoy SI’s Joe Posnanski’s quote over the weekend: “
